Shades of the 'baby boomers v twenty somethings'manufactured 'at loggerheads'row. Sure; some key findings, but a cheap shot (except if you're highly paid, of course!) They would like nothing more than a public outcry that saw the end of the licence fee, and the likely consequent shackling of the BBC to one of their media buddies, who could then deliver the same results that are possible with the printed media.

Cynical? The public funds the BBC, why shouldn't they know how it spends some of its money? I'd push for full disclosure - not just talent but management too and all their procurement. What is there to hide? And the numbers on their own don't mean anything in isolation..is Chris Evans overpaid at £2.2 million pounds? It depends on your perspective. But surely it's useful for new talent and people who aspire to working at BBC Radio 2 - they now know that you could be Jo Whiley and earn less than £200,000. It's a huge coup for the BBC that they are paying Chris Evans directly and not via a production company..at least they're able to reveal what he's being paid..under some of his previous arrangements with the BBC that wouldn't have been possible. So, I consider this good progress and hope to see more transparency in future. I'd like to see Bauer and Global revealing the earnings of their talent too - this is particularly important since both organisations run 'academies' encouraging people to come into the industry, surely they have a duty to be upfront about their earning potential? Thanks for the blog, looking forward to the next one. All the best. Colin Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05570072619344231493noreply@blogger.com
